Little Ladder Books creates gentle, illustrated stories and story-and-play sets that help young children explore the big feelings and everyday experiences that come with growing up.

Our stories are made for little hearts, curious minds, and the grown-ups who walk alongside them.

Because little people have big feelings too.

Children experience a world of emotions long before they always have the words to describe them.

Feeling different. Trying something new. Losing. Getting frustrated. Asking for help. Saying no. Needing a break. Dealing with change. Finding the courage to try again. These moments may seem small to grown-ups, but they can feel very big to a young child.

Little Ladder Books creates stories that give children a gentle way into these moments — through stories, play, conversation and imagination.

Our stories don't try to give children perfect answers. They give children space to notice, explore and talk about what they are experiencing.

A Note For the Grown-Ups

Little Ladder Books is created for children, but emotional learning happens in relationships.

Parents, caregivers, teachers and other adults can help children find words for what they feel, make sense of difficult moments and feel supported as they grow.

That's why our stories are designed to create opportunities to:

Read together.
Talk together.
Play together.
Grow together.

A story can be the beginning of a conversation. A game can make a difficult idea easier to explore. A drawing can give a child another way to express something they don't yet have words for.

🎨How We Create

Stories first. Feelings naturally woven in.

Our stories begin with child-sized emotional experiences.

We use simple language, repetition, rhythm, relatable characters and expressive illustrations to make emotional ideas accessible to young children.

Our approach is:

Gentle — without heavy moralising or forced positivity.

Age-appropriate — with language and situations young children can understand.

Open-ended — allowing children to have their own emotional responses.

Interactive — creating opportunities for conversation, reflection and play.

Our story sets extend beyond the book through activities and supporting materials that encourage children to explore ideas in different ways.

Our Story

It started with a simple question.

What happens to the children who don't quite fit into the way we expect children to learn?

Years ago, when Garima started Credo Learning, the intention was simple: to create learning experiences for children who felt a little lost or left behind in conventional classrooms.

The work began with learning.

But the more closely she worked with children, parents and teachers, the more she realised that children were carrying another kind of learning with them — learning how to deal with fear, loss, change, rejection, boundaries, big feelings and all the things they often don't have the words for yet.

And those questions stayed.

Over the years, requests began coming in for stories and activities around difficult emotional experiences — grief, bullying, loss, boundaries and abuse. These weren't stories about teaching children to behave better. They were about helping children understand what was happening inside them, find words for it and know that they could talk to someone they trusted.

That work began to feel different.

It felt less like creating another learning product and more like creating something children genuinely needed.

And Little Ladder Books grew from there.

Today, we create gentle illustrated stories and play-based experiences that help children approach big emotional ideas without fear, pressure or heavy explanations.

Each story is designed to give a child one small step — a word for a feeling, permission to ask for help, courage to say no, comfort after a loss, or simply the knowledge that what I feel matters.

Garima brings to this work years of experience designing learning experiences for children, along with the perspective of a single mother who has watched two daughters grow into confident, grounded young adults. .

Her work has been recognised with the SheThePeople Digital Women Award 2020 in the Disruption category, and she and her team were winners of Toycathon 2021, organised by the Ministry of Education and AICTE.

But those recognitions are not really where this story begins.

It begins with children.

And a belief that some of the biggest things we need to learn in childhood are not found in a textbook.

They are the things we learn about ourselves, our feelings, our boundaries and our voice — one small step at a time.
